Mobile police counter set up to help Kg Kepayang flood victims, say Perak cops

Acting Perak police chief Deputy Comm Zulkafli Sariaat visited the flood aftermath at Taman Arena Kepayang Putra, Ipoh.

IPOH: A mobile police counter will be deployed to Taman Arena Kampung Kepayang here to enable folk affected by the flash flood to lodge reports.

Acting Perak police chief Deputy Comm Zulkafli Sariaat said people who require further assistance can also request it from the mobile counter.

"We are aware that many residents will have issues going to police stations to lodge reports.

"The mobile counter will be stationed there until all efforts to clean up the housing area has been completed," he said in a press conference after visiting the area on Monday (Dec 2).

"We have already sent out our mobile police vehicles to alert the residents about it," he added.

Taman Arena Kampung Kepayang was among the worst-hit areas following continuous rainfall on Saturday (Nov 30) evening.

DCP Zulkafli said the police will also monitor the area to prevent some people from taking advantage of the chaos to steal.

"We do advise people to lock up their gates and not leave their house unattended," he said.

"We will also send the police Federal Reserve Unit and General Operations Force to help the residents with the clean-up," he added.

DCP Zulkafli said he also hoped everyone, including the local authorities, would learn from this incident.

"While we do not know the exact cause for the flood, it usually has something to do with town planning if it happens in an urban area," he said.
