Floods: Free replacement for victims who lose their MyKad, birth certs

PUTRAJAYA: The National Registration Department (NRD) will replace identification documents such as birth certificates and identity cards for free to flood victims.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said NRD officers will set up mobile counters in the affected areas to ensure the process of replacing lost or damaged documents is done immediately after the floods are over.

"I hope our efforts will, to some extent, help the affected victims and ease their affairs in the aftermath of the flood," he said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday (Dec 1).

As of 9am today, the number of flood victims housed at temporary relief centres has risen to 150,782.

This figure involves 45,195 families placed in 699 relief centres across nine states namely Kelantan, Terengganu, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Perlis, Johor, Pahang, Melaka, and Selangor.
