Floods: Housewife pleads for rescue of husband, sons stuck on roof in Pasir Mas

KOTA BHARU: A housewife from Kampung Meranti, Pasir Mas, has turned to social media, desperately seeking immediate rescue for her husband and two sons, who have been stranded on the roof of their home since Friday (Nov 29) evening due to flooding.

Fazlinda Mohd Salleh, 38, said her husband, Rijal Asmawi, 42, and their two sons, Muhammad Faiz, 15, and Muhammad Fitri, 12, became stranded on the roof after returning home on Friday to move their belongings to higher ground.

The mother of four said that despite reaching out to various security agencies, including the Fire and Rescue Department and the Civil Defence Force, as well as non-governmental organisations, she has yet to receive any updates from her husband.

"I last spoke to them around 2am yesterday, and they told me they had to take shelter on the roof as the water rose suddenly, reaching a dangerous level. Now, I can only pray that they are all safe,” she told Bernama on Saturday (Nov 30).

Earlier, Fazlinda’s plea for help on Facebook, urging the public to assist in rescuing her husband and children trapped on the roof in Kampung Meranti, went viral on social media.

Nearly 1,500 Facebook users shared the post, expressing their sympathy for the situation and helping to spread the message more widely.

According to Fazlinda, she was separated from her husband and two sons after he asked her and their two younger children, Muhammad Fahim, 5, and Fazana Balqis, to seek shelter at the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bayu Lalang.

"I can’t stop thinking about the three of them. When I last talked to my husband, he said they were cold, hungry, and had small wounds on their hands from holding onto the roof for so long.

"I’m hoping that anyone with a boat will come forward to help rescue my husband and two children, as I’m really worried something bad might happen to them," she said. - Bernama
