Kelantan's security uncompromised despite nine police stations inundated, says DPM Zahid

KOTA BAHRU: Kelantan’s security has not been compromised even though nine police stations in Pasir Mas and Tumpat were currently affected by floods, according to Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Deputy Prime Minister said all the affected police officers and personnel at the stations have also been temporarily relocated to areas where their services were needed.

"The roles of the affected personnel will be replaced with the deployment of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) General Operations Force (PGA) and military personnel in the state.

"So, the security remains uncompromised,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid also said that the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) has been instructed to deliver surplus tents from other states to meet the needs of temporary relief centres (PPS) in Kelantan.

He said this was due to the dwindling supply of tents in the state's PPS.

"Surplus tents stored in other states must be sent to flood-hit areas to fulfil the needs of PPS.

"The number of flood victims in Kelantan has surged sharply to 69,000, necessitating additional tents,” he said.

Ahmad Zahid was speaking to reporters while visiting flood victims at the PPS in Sekolah Kebangsaan Tapang on Friday (Nov 29).

Also present were Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud and state police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat.- Bernama
