3kg of gold snatched in Ipoh heist

IPOH: Armed masked men robbed a gold factory operator and fled with about 3kg of gold worth around RM1.5mil.

According to acting Perak police chief Deputy Comm Zulkafli Sariaat, the incident occurred in Jalan Bendahara around 9.30am yesterday.

“We received a call about the robbery in front of the factory in Jalan Bendahara.

“Based on initial information, the suspects fled in two vehicles. Investigations are ongoing.”

He said two men, who had just exited a building, were putting a bag containing the jewellery into their car.

The robbers then rammed their car into the back of the victim’s vehicle before snatching the gold.

The suspects fled in three luxury cars, which Deputy Comm Zulkafli said were believed to have fake number plates.
