Kluang motorcyclist killed after losing control of machine, crashing into streetlight


KLUANG: A mechanic lost his life when the motorcycle he was riding skidded and crashed into a streetlight at KM2.8 of the Kluang-Nyior Road last night.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said they received a report about the accident at 10.56pm on Sunday (Nov 24).

"Initial investigations at the scene revealed that the 18-year-old victim was riding a motorcycle, travelling from Nyior towards Kluang.

"Upon reaching the location, the victim is believed to have lost control of the motorcycle, causing him to collide with a streetlight pole at the roadside.

"The victim was rushed to Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital (HEBHK) for further treatment," he said in a statement here on Monday (Nov 25).

ACP Bahrin added that, however, the victim, identified as Yap Yu Hern, was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
