46 foreign women held in prostitution den raids


KUALA LUMPUR: Forty-six foreign women were among 67 individuals detained following raids on prostitution dens in the city.

Bukit Aman and Kuala Lumpur CID’s anti-vice, gambling, and secret societies division conducted the raids at Jalan Pudu, Jalan Petaling, and Kepong on Friday in an operation codenamed Ops E-Noda.

Some prostitution dens charge customers between RM60 and RM250 for their services.

The prostitutes were also said to entertain between five and 10 customers daily.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said among those detained were 15 Bangladeshi women, four Indian nationals, 10 Indonesian, four Thai and 12 Vietnamese.

“We also detained six Bangladeshi, five Nepalese, two Myanmar men, an Indian man and seven locals,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said all those detained have been remanded.

He said investigation papers were opened under Sections 327B and 373 of the Penal Code and the Immigration Act.

“We urged those with information on any criminal activities, including prostitution, to contact the KL police hotline at 03-211 5999 or the nearest police station.
