PETALING JAYA: The famous children on bicycle mural from Penang has been caught featured as the livery on an AirAsia plane.

Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic highlighted the issue in an Instagram story that went viral on Sunday (Nov 24), posting a photo of the plane and commenting, "I think we need to talk..." while tagging both the airline and Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.

The artist told Singapore's Straits Times that AirAsia did not seek his permission to use the mural, and this was not the first incident of its kind.

He mentioned that he is currently trying to resolve the matter directly with the airline and has not yet pursued legal action.

The mural was originally painted in 2012 by Zacharevic, along with several other works and is considered to be synonymous with the George Town Heritage Site in Penang
