ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor will record a revenue exceeding RM2bil this year, the highest in the state’s history, says Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

He said that in two years, Johor had attracted investments totalling RM113.7bil while creating 35,000 job opportunities.

“For next year, Johor has also tabled a surplus budget where revenue of RM2.005bil has been projected. The projected revenue is 11% or RM201mil more than this year’s.

“The state budget will have a RM5.12mil surplus and a forecasted expenditure of RM1.999bil,” he said when tabling the budget at the state assembly in Kota Iskandar here on Thursday (Nov 21).

Onn Hafiz said the Johor Budget 2025, themed “Maju Johor, Rakyat Sejahtera,” has six cores comprising 244 initiatives.

He added that the initiatives include improving public service, especially with the shift to a Saturday-Sunday weekend from the present Friday-Saturday weekend.

Johor Regent Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim had previously announced that starting January 2025, the state’s weekend off days will be changed to Saturday and Sunday.

Meanwhile, at the start of the sitting, Onn Hafiz and Johor State Assembly Speaker Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi also conveyed their well wishes towards His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia for his birthday, which falls on Friday (Nov 22).
