Driver killed in another trailer accident

IPOH: A driver of a trailer transporting cement died after his vehicle hit another trailer, before moving a further 100m to crash into a house along KM47 of the Ipoh-Lumut road.

Perak Tengah OCPD Supt Hafezul Helmi Hamzah said the 32-year-old driver sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that took place at 11.15pm on Saturday.

“The victim driving the trailer transporting cement was heading from Seri Iskandar towards Gelung Pepuyu when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into another trailer transporting recycled papers that was parked by the side of the road.

“The second trailer then hit another car parked by the side of the road as well.

“As a result of the collision, the trailer transporting cement moved forward about 100m, and crashed into the garage of a house,” he said yesterday.

He said the road was wet at the time of the incident, and there were no street lights or CCTV in the area.

“Post-mortem found the cause of death to be polytrauma injury secondary to motor vehicle accident.

“The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said as he advised road users to be more careful and law-abiding, apart from exercising patience.

Those with information are urged to contact the investigating officer Inspector M. Maheswaran at 010-7005051 or go to the nearest police station.
