KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has urged Malaysian diplomatic missions abroad to adopt a proactive approach by exploring more strategic cooperation opportunities in their host countries.
Fadillah, who is also the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said the missions should also step up efforts to promote Malaysian products, attract investments and showcase Malaysia’s potential on the global stage.
He said this when receiving a courtesy call from six newly appointed Malaysian envoys at his office in Putrajaya on Friday (July 24).
The six envoys are Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Muzafar Shah Mustafa; Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Jamal Sharifuddin Johan; Malaysian Ambassador to Mexico Muhammad Radzi Jamaludin; Malaysian Ambassador to Italy Datuk Shahabudeen Adam Shah; Malaysian Ambassador to Morocco Edi Irwan Mahmud; and Malaysian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Aznifah Isnariah Abdul Ghani.
"We also exchanged views on efforts to enhance Malaysia's trade relations with strategic partners and the role of economic diplomacy in advancing the country’s development agenda,” Fadillah said in a Facebook post.
The Deputy Prime Minister said he also outlined the vision and initiatives of the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry, particularly the implementation of the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and Malaysia's aspiration to become a leading green energy hub in Asean.
He also congratulated the Malaysian envoys and expressed hope that they would carry out their duties with dedication and excellence, delivering meaningful outcomes and greater benefits to the people and the nation. - Bernama
