Bung: Don’t blame Barisan for GRS bribery scandal

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno has dismissed claims that it was behind the developing bribery-video scandal over mining licences that has implicated several Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) leaders.

State Umno chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin said it is clear that the case is a problem between a businessman and certain state leaders.

“How is it that we are behind it? It is an issue between the businessman and GRS leaders,” he said when contacted yesterday.

The case, he said, is best left to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate, based on the recordings uploaded online.

He said certain bloggers as well as posts in social media are trying to portray Barisan Nasional-Umno as being behind the scandal.

“We have nothing to do with this... it is their (GRS) problem.

“It is best for MACC to complete its investigations quickly,” Bung Moktar said.

Barisan, which used to be part of the state government with GRS, left the fold after a failed attempt by Sabah Umno to topple Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in January last year.
