Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds expected in 10 states, says MetMalaysia


PETALING JAYA: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast in the afternoon for 10 states, including Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

In an advisory issued by the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 2pm, the affected areas are Penang (North Seberang Perai, Central Seberang Perai and South Seberang Perai), Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang), Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Other areas are Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Pasir Mas, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang and Kuala Krai), Terengganu (Besut and Kemaman), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Raub, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin) and Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru).

Also seeing rains are Sarawak - Kuching, Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah, Bintulu (Tatau and Bintulu) and Miri (Subis, Miri and Marudi) -, and Sabah - Interior (Beaufort), West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran), Tawau and Sandakan (Telupid, Kinabatangan and Sandakan).

The advisory is until 5pm.
