KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected over 13 states including Sabah and Sarawak.
The Malaysia Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued an advisory at 3.05pm on Nov 11 stating that the weather was expected throughout the states of Perlis, Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Pendang, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim) and Kelantan (Jeli), Terengganu (Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Kuantan and Rompin), Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat and Sepang), Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah and Rembau), Melaka and Johor (Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru) are also expected to be affected.
In Sarawak, places like Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan), Bintulu, Miri and Limbang are also expected to be affected and Sabah where interior areas such as Sipitang, Beaufort and Nabawan and the West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud) are also affected.
The advisory is effective until 6pm.
On Nov 1, MetMalaysia director-general Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said the Northeast Monsoon season would start on Nov 5 and continue until March 2025.
