KUALA LUMPUR: "It was a long time since I last saw her (the victim), I thought she went back to her kampung or moved to another house and did not live with her son any more."

That was what a neighbour said after learning about a body that was found in a freezer at a two-storey house in Taman OUG near Old Klang Road here.

The man in his 30s, who declined to be identified, said he was shocked to see an ambulance and several police officers at the house.

"I've lived here since I was a child and this is the most shocking that has happened here," he told Malay daily Sinar Harian on Tuesday (Nov 12).

He said that the suspect in the murder case had lived in the house for over 10 years.

"The suspect seemed normal. He would wave and say 'hello' if he saw me or other neighbours," he said.

Previously, Sinar Harian reported that suspect man had allegedly murdered his mother, who was in her 80s, and hid her body in a freezer three years ago.

The crime came to light after the suspect called the 999 emergency services due to a health problem.

It is understood that the male suspect, who is in his 50s, killed his mother back in March 2021.

He wrapped the victim's body in a towel and plastic sheet and placed it in the freezer.

It is believed that they had a dispute over religion.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa confirmed they were investigating the case.
