Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar appointed as new Attorney General


PETALING JAYA: Datuk Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar has been appointed as the new Attorney General.

In an announcement by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, Mohd Dusuki's appointment is effective from Nov 12.

"In accordance with Article 145(1) of the Federal Constitution, His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has consented to the appointment of Datuk Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar as the new Attorney General, effective from Nov 12, replacing Tan Sri Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh, who has been appointed as a Federal Court Judge.

"The government expresses its gratitude to Tan Sri Ahmad Terrirudin for his dedicated service to the nation during his tenure as Attorney General," he said in a brief statement on Monday (Nov 11).

Born in Machang, Kelantan, Mohd Dusuki is currently 57-years-old and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the International Islamic University Malaysia and a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Wollongong, Australia.

According to Shamsul Azri, Mohd Dusuki has extensive experience in the legal field, serving for 31 years in various positions within the Attorney General’s Chambers

Prior to his appointment as the Attorney General, Mohammad Dusuki was notably acting as the lead prosecutor in the corruption trial of Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in Sept 2023, replacing Datuk Raja Rozela Raja Toran.
