Motorcyclist dies after run over by lorry in JB


JOHOR BARU: A motorcyclist died on the spot after being run over by a lorry in an accident at KM11, Jalan Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam at 8.05am, Thursday.

Johor Baru North acting OCPD Supt Azrol Anuar Nor said the motorcycle ridden by the 41-year-old local man was travelling towards Johor Baru when the incident happened.

“The accident involved a motorcycle, a car and a lorry,’’ he said in a statement on Wednesday (Nov 7).

Supt Azrol Anuar said the incident was believed to have occurred when the victim riding the motorcycle in the middle of the right lane had hit the left side mirror of a car travelling in the right lane.

“The victim lost control of the motorcycle after hitting the side mirror and fell on the road,’’ he said.

Supt Azrol Anuar said unfortunately, the victim was run over by the rear tyre on the right side of the lorry travelling along the same road causing serious head injuries to the victim.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.

Supt Azrol Anuar urged witnesses or those with information on the incident to contact the investigating officer Insp Ong Jin Siong at 011-16490168.
