Over 20 polytechnic students headed to China for EV training


IPOH: A total of 21 participants from three Malaysian polytechnics are participating in the EV (electric vehicle) Automotive Hangzhou Silk Road Youth Exchange Programme, organised by the Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic (PSAS).

PSAS, in a statement, said the programme, which runs from Sunday (Oct 27) until Jan 21 next year, will take place at Hangzhou Polytechnic (HZPT) and Geely Auto Group in China.

The 21 participants include nine students from PSAS, as well as six students each from Ungku Omar Polytechnic (PUO) and Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Polytechnic (PSMZA), along with one lecturer from the PSAS mechanical engineering department.

"This programme aims to provide industry attachment training in the field of electric vehicles for selected students.

"It also offers placement opportunities upon completion of the training, making it an important platform for producing skilled workforce in the rapidly growing EV industry," the statement read.

The statement also highlighted that the programme will open ample opportunities for polytechnic students in the country to participate in global developments in the EV industry and enhance their competitiveness at the international level.

Throughout the programme, students will undergo practical training in the EV industry, site visits, industrial attachments at Geely Auto Group and its subsidiaries, as well as training from industry instructors.

"A cross-cultural programme will also be organised to enhance the students' understanding of Chinese culture and the development of EV technology in the country," the statement read further. – Bernama
