Traditional healing centre in Melaka raided for deviant treatment methods

MELAKA: The Melaka Islamic Religious Department (Jaim) raided a traditional medical centre in Masjid Tanah on Thursday (Oct 24) following a recent fatwa declaring the centre's treatment methods as deviant.

The enforcement action on Tabib Adam Medical Centre was carried out in collaboration with the Alor Gajah Municipal Council (MPAG).

In a Facebook post, MPAG shared several images showing officials inspecting a premises bearing the name “Villa Dato’ Tabib Diraja Dato’ Adam M. Isa”, with documents and clothing featuring the founder’s image among the items examined.

State Education, Higher Education, and Religious Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Rahmad Mariman declined to comment on the raid, citing the ongoing investigation.

On Oct 14, local media reported that Tabib Adam treatments were declared deviant by the state Fatwa Committee.

Melaka Mufti Datuk Abdul Halim Tawil said that the decision was made on Sept 12 after findings revealed questionable elements in the treatments. This prompted Jaim to take further action, including face-to-face interviews with those involved. – Bernama
