Anwar expresses appreciation for Putin’s invitation to the BRICS summit

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the invitation to attend the recently concluded BRICS Summit.

In an X post on Friday (Oct 10), Anwar also thanked Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, who represented him in Kazan to express Malaysia’s solidarity, efforts and initiatives to elevate the country’s position and stance.

According to reports, Malaysia is now recognised as one of the 13 partner countries officially added to BRICS, a bloc that collectively accounts for one-fifth of global trade.

The BRICS represent approximately 40% of the global population and contribute a cumulative Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of US$26.6 trillion (US$1=RM4.34) or 26.2% to the world's GDP, almost equaling the economic strength of the Group of Seven (G7). – Bernama
