Thai legend Rodtang to make guest appearance at KL Muaythai challenge

SHAH ALAM: One Championship champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon will be a special guest at the Grand Final Kuda Merah International Muaythai Challenge 2024 at the Titiwangsa Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, on Nov 16 to 17.

Kuda Merah Muay Thai Club Kuala Lumpur president Rosli Yaacob said the prestigious tournament, co-organised by the club and Tourism Malaysia, would see 26 top fighters from local and international arenas compete for the “King of the Ring” title.

“Rodtang will also send two fighters to compete, his younger brother Nong Ice and his sister-in-law Zaidania Looksaikongdin. The organisers will also host a meet-and-greet session with Rodtang on Nov 16 from 3pm to 4pm.

"We expect over 6,000 local and international spectators to fill Titiwangsa Stadium, making it a grand event in the 2024 Federal Territory Day Calendar,” he said at a press conference here on Thursday (Oct 24).

Rosli highlighted key matches, including Phet Muaythai's Izat Fazzaki Mohamad Zaki facing Kun Khmer champion Pich Kakada Red Wolves from Cambodia, and the Malaysian Armed Forces fighter Mohd Shahrul Hakim Rosli against Iran's Majid Baghal.

He said a belt sponsored by renowned Malaysian singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza would be contested in the Women’s Super Fight category.

"In addition, there will be the Sendha Lokha Festival with Kuda Merah Muay Thai Club in conjunction with the Grand Final. The festival will take place on Nov 15, 16 and 17 at the parking lot of Titiwangsa Stadium.

"The activities will not just focus on sales; there will also be various performances, including a dikir barat presentation by Muaythai fighters from the Mat Ropi Hitam Manis group, as well as performances by artistes from Projector Band, AAN Way, Karl Axthra, Juniloyd Egano, Syamel Amzah and Syazwan Syahmi,” he added.

Rosli said 10,000 tickets have already sold out, but the organisers will print additional tickets for fans who wish to buy them in person. Ticket counters will be open from Nov 15 to 17, starting at noon.
