Cops nab two men for robbing a Kota Tinggi mini-market


KOTA TINGGI: Police have arrested two men in connection to a robbery and assault at a mini-market in Taman Kota, here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Yusof Othman reported that the arrests were made after a police report was lodged on Friday (Oct 18).

Based on the report, a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) apprehended two men, aged 25 and 26, in less than an hour.

Several items, including a pair of denim shorts, a meat cleaver, RM284 in cash, a motorcycle, and a helmet, were seized.

Preliminary investigations confirmed the suspects' involvement in the incident, and both tested negative for drugs.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his right hand and the back of his head.

The suspects are currently under remand for five days from Oct 19 to Oct 23.

The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years' imprisonment and may also include a fine or whipping upon conviction.
