Three killed in two separate accidents on LPT2 in Terengganu

CHUKAI: Three men believed to be participants in the EX5 Members 4.0 programme died in two separate accidents on the East Coast Highway 2 (LPT2), near Kemaman, on Friday.

Kemaman district police chief Supt Hanyan Ramlan said the first incident occurred at about 6.35am at KM322.4.

He said the victims were identified as Mohamad Alif Haikal Mohd Razali, 18, from Bandar Tun Razak, Pahang and Muhammad Aliff Haiqal Abdullah, 23, from Kampung Alai, Melaka.

"The incident is believed to have occurred when the two victims, who were travelling from Kuantan to Kuala Terengganu, grazed against one another before being thrown onto the road.

"Both victims, who worked as restaurant assistants, died at the scene. Their bodies were taken to Kemaman Hospital for further action,” he said when contacted.

Supt Hanyan said in the second incident, which occurred at about 11.50am at KM 316.8 near Kerteh, Nur Hamizul Abu Bakar, 22, from Slim River, Perak, was believed to have skidded and crashed into a metal road divider.

"The victim died on the spot, and his body was sent to Kemaman Hospital,” he said, adding that both cases were being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama
