Budget 2025: Govt to implement multi-tier levy to reduce dependence on foreign labour, says Anwar

PETALING JAYA: The government plans to introduce a multi-tiered levy mechanism early next year, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister said, while tabling Budget 2025 in the Dewan Rakyat on Friday (Oct 18), that this move aims to reduce the dependence on foreign labour in the country.

Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said the revenue from the levy collection would be channeled back to industry players to drive their business processes towards automation and mechanisation.
