Cops detain suspect in Bangsar snatch thief case


KUALA LUMPUR: A man has been detained over a snatch theft in Bangsar here that left a 78-year-old woman bleeding from the head.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said the suspect was detained in Ampang on Thursday (Oct 10).

"Investigations revealed that the suspect was also involved in another snatch theft in Brickfields on the same day.

"In the Brickfields case, the suspect stole a woman's bag filled with cash, bank cards and keys and sped away on his motorcycle," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 11).

"He has been remanded until Oct 16," he said.

The cases are classified under Sections 394 and 393 of the Penal Code.

ACP Ku Mashariman urged those with information to contact the KL police hotline at 03-21159999 or Brickfields police operations room at 03-22979222 or any nearest police station.

In the Bangsar case, a 78-year-old woman was walking along Jalan Limau Manis at 6.30am on Monday (Oct 7) when the crime occurred.

The victim fell to the ground and hit her head, causing the injury.
