Couple in cuffs: Cops bust ganja dealers who hooked up with clients on social media

SHAH ALAM: A couple has ended up in handcuffs for allegedly selling drugs in the Klang Valley.

The man and woman, aged 19 and 23, were arrested on Sept 26 after an operation against a drug distribution syndicate active in Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam, police said.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim told a press conference here Tuesday (Oct 2) that the first arrest was made at a car park in Petaling Jaya.

“Twenty packets of what we believe to be ganja, weighing 2.12kg, were seized.

"Following that the male suspect led the police to a condominium in the area where the woman was arrested.

“Two suitcases containing 5.06kg and 3.18kg of ganja were seized there,” he said.

Both suspects did not have police records, and urine tests also came back negative for drugs, he added.

It is believed that the couple had been active for a year, connecting with customers via social media before making deliveries in person.

“The value of the drugs seized was estimated to be around RM38,000,” he said.

A sports car worth RM200,000 was also seized.

The suspects have been remanded until Oct 3.
