AMM's new premises to support medical specialty training, says Dzulkefly

KUALA LUMPUR: The new premises of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM) in Putrajaya will be a centre for activities related to medical specialty training.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad described this as an achievement by the medical fraternity and AMM, not only in Malaysia but in the region.

"Apart from being the administrative centre, this campus will also house 13 colleges under AMM and the Malaysian Family Doctorate Academy, which will be a centre for activities related to medical specialty training,” he said in a post on his Facebook page on Monday (Sept 30).

He said the premises also function as a training hub and house the Academies Simulation and Education and Training Site (ASETS), which has advanced digital infrastructure capable of creating complex simulations, further supporting the training function of medical specialties.

"I am very proud because this facility will complement our efforts to elevate Malaysia's position as a centre of excellence and innovation on the world stage,” he said.

He said the Health Ministry welcomes the progress achieved by AMM and is always ready to work together to develop more medical and health professions in Malaysia.

The building replaces the old Medical Academy building in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur, which was taken over by the government in 2016.
