Penang Customs foils 240 smuggling attempts, resulting in seizures worth over RM28mil


BUTTERWORTH: The Royal Malaysian Customs Department in Penang has successfully foiled 240 smuggling and customs duty evasion attempts between January and August, resulting in seizures valued at over RM28mil, including duties.

State Customs director Datuk Roselan Ramli said that cigarettes topped the list with 107 cases, amounting to RM2.7mil in goods and RM9.28mil in duties.
