Sixteen GISB premises in Rawang ordered shut by MPS


PETALING JAYA: Sixteen premises have been slapped with immediate closure notices following raids at the Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) commercial centre in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang on Saturday (Sept 21) morning.

The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) said of the 16, 12 premises were found to be operating without valid licences.

The remaining four premises were found to have breached licensing conditions.

During the raid, MPS also revoked four business licences for non-compliance with the specified licensing conditions.

MPS’ Buildings Department also issued 25 notices as the operators had made changes and additions to the premises and built structures without approval.

Action was taken under the Street, Drainage and Building Act 1974.

It said in a statement, adding that 130 MPS personnel were involved.

Police raided several businesses linked to GISB including a workshop, used clothing shop, restaurant, printing shop, media management company and a hotel.

A total of 50 police officers and 200 personnel from the Selangor police contingent, the Federal Reserve Unit and other agencies were involved in the operation, codenamed Ops Global.

It was reported earlier that during the operation, led by the police, MPS had demolished several illegal structures and seized other premises. The police team started the operations as early as 6.30am at Jalan Desa.
