Two suspects in counter setting probe remanded


SEREMBAN: Two enforcement officers have been remanded for allegedly being in cahoots with a syndicate to allow foreigners into the country via the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA2.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had obtained a remand order to detain one suspect for five days and another for seven days. It was signed by magistrate Fairuz Syuhada Amran following an application by the MACC, and it is learnt that one of those remanded was the mastermind of the illegal activity.

The two suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were believed to be part of a counter setting syndicate.Counter setting refers to foreigners who enter the country without proper document inspections and go through designated and predetermined lanes at entry points.

The suspects are believed to have been working hand in hand with agents of the syndicates.
