Tragic motorcycle accident claims life of 24-year-old in Johor

TANGKAK: A 24-year-old man was killed while his pillion rider was injured after their motorcycle hit the back of a lorry at KM162.7 of the North-South Expressway (NSE).

Tangkak OCPD Supt Roslan Mohd Talib said the incident occurred at 10pm on Wednesday (Sept 11) when the victims were heading towards Tangkak from Kluang.

“Initial investigation revealed that the rider had followed closely behind a lorry before hitting the vehicle from the back.

“The impact has caused the 24-year-old rider and his pillion rider, a 21-year-old woman, to fall on the road,” he said in a statement here on Friday (Sept 13).

He added that the man was pronounced dead while being treated at the Tangkak Hospital.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat is calling for public cooperation in sharing information about a hit-and-run case that has resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man from Myanmar.

“The incident occurred at 9pm on Thursday (Sept 12); the victim was walking at the roadside at Jalan Bayu, Tampoi, and was run over by an unknown vehicle.
