'Please save my mother,' says son of sinkhole victim


KUALA LUMPUR: The eldest son of the victim, who was swallowed by the sudden appearance of a sinkhole just opposite Masjid India, here on Friday has pleaded with the SAR team to save his mother.

Soon after seeing the gravity of the situation, the son who had just arrived from Thailand started to cry his heart out.

"Please save my mother. Save her," he cried loudly.

The family were left distraught, worried and sad as they anxiously awaited the discovery of an Indian national woman, identified as Vijayalaksmi, 48 who was swallowed by the sudden appearance of a sinkhole just opposite Masjid India, here on Friday.

The woman's husband clad in a green shirt and a group of ladies in sarees are sitting near the site of the incident for some good news.

They can be heard asking the authorities if the woman will ever be found.

Their eyes filled with tears.

When approached the group of ladies, one of them said it all happened within seconds.

Still clinging to a glimmer of hope, the ladies merely said “the kids want their mom back.”

“I was walking and suddenly she was gone,” said a lady clad in a red and white saree who was present when the woman fell into the ground.

She added that they just cannot eat or drink anything at the moment.

Search and rescue operations are still ongoing by authorities.

They were met by Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa, who consoled them.
