Missing boys found, trapped in lift for nine hours


PETALING JAYA: Two boys aged 10 and 11 who were thought to be missing were actually trapped in a lift for nine hours on Monday (Aug 19).

According to the 10-year-old's aunt, he had left his home at the Desa Petaling Flats to buy buns and meet his friend living in the nearby Pangsaria Apartments.

"I was told that the boy had left at about 2pm but had not returned home by 10pm.The family then searched nearby and everyone was worried," she said when contacted on Tuesday (Aug 20).

The woman, who only wished to be known as Ina, said both boys were finally found at about 1am on Tuesday.

"I was told that they were trapped in the lift. The doors of the lift finally opened by themselves and the boys got out in a state of exhaustion and hunger," she added.

Meanwhile, Cheras OCPD ACP Ravindar Singh Sarban Singh confirmed the incident and said that the children are believed to have been trapped for about nine hours.

He said police also received two reports on the incidents and both victims have since been found and are safe.
