Former convict arrested with over RM9,000 worth of ganja


KANGAR: An ex-convict who was released from prison in February 2024 has been arrested for possessing 2.85kg of cannabis worth RM9,300 on Jalan Padang Besar here.

Padang Besar district police chief ACP Mohd Shokri Abdullah said the 32-year-old man was arrested at 12.05pm on Sunday (Aug 18).

He said someone from a neighbouring country had allegedly paid the ex-convict RM500 to smuggle in the drugs.

The suspect, who has a record of 11 drug-related crimes, also tested positive for drugs and is being remanded for seven days for investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Bernama
