KANGAR: A motivational speaker, who was remanded for two days to assist investigations into an alleged sexual harassment case, was released on police bail at about 5.30pm on Tuesday (Oct 6).
Perlis police chief Dept Comm Hamzah Hashim said in a brief statement to Bernama that the investigation papers had been referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further instructions.
The media reported on Monday (Oct 5) that the 33-year-old man had been remanded for two days to assist investigations into a police report filed against him in the district on Saturday (Oct 3).
Earlier, the media reported on Sunday (Oct 4) that police had received another report against the man.
DCP Hamzah was quoted as saying the police report involved a 19-year-old female complainant, and the case was being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act.
The man was remanded for two days from Saturday in connection with a police report in Padang Besar, then released on police bail and rearrested by police from the Kangar police headquarters for further action. — Bernama
