Seized case items, evidence worth RM1.5mil destroyed, says Selangor top cop


PETALING JAYA: Some RM1.5mil worth of case items and evidence were disposed of during an event.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said more than 5,000 items were from cases investigated by Petaling Jaya district police headquarters from 1990 till 2024.

"The evidence is from 1,387 investigation papers (IPs)" he said in his speech during the evidence-disposing event held at Ara Damansara police station on Wednesday (Aug 7).

Among the items seized were fireworks, bitcoin machines, items from illegal gambling including mobile phones and jewellery.

"Other items included weapons such as knives, machetes and steel rods as well as fake ringgit notes.

"The items are from IPs and cases that have been completed and the subsequent court proceedings have been concluded.

"The magistrate and deputy public prosecutor instructed for the RM1.5mil items to be disposed of," he said.

Among those presents were Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shahrulnizam Ja'afar, Petaling Jaya Judge Sazlina Safie and DPP Ahmad Zuhaini Muhammad Amin.
