KUANTAN: Eggs, canned milk and coconut milk were the most sought-after items at the Rahmah sales here.

The event was held in conjunction with the Eastern Zone Madani Rakyat programme over the past two days.

The items were sold out within four hours of its opening at 9am.

Pahang Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry director Jezlily Jamaluddin said 2,600 trays of eggs, 6,400 packs of coconut milk and 5,600 cans of milk were sold during the programme at Dataran Sayangi Kuantan.

Yesterday, there were 1,300 trays of eggs, 2,800 cans of milk and 3,200 packs of coconut milk, she said.

“For fresh produce, the hot selling item is chicken, with 2,000 sold in just four hours,” she told Bernama, adding that the sale programme has seen nearly 6,000 visitors.

A Bernama check at the site found that other necessities have also been selling well, including 1kg Milo packs, 5kg packs of Faiza Emas rice, and 2kg packs of Buruh cooking oil, priced at RM14, RM15 and RM10 respectively.

Most visitors are eager to take advantage of the 30% discount offered at the programme, which helps them save money and provides the convenience of having everything in one place.

Homemaker Amira Afiff, 50, was delighted to find that chicken was being sold for only RM11, compared to market prices which exceeded RM15.

“I cook for my family and usually buy chicken to marinate for specific dishes and store it for up to a week. With this price, I don’t have to worry for the next two to three weeks,” said Amira, who bought three birds.

Administrative clerk D. Subhashini, 34, took the chance to get more Cap Sauh wheat flour, Jalen sweet soy sauce and Daia detergent powder priced at RM2.10, RM3.50 and RM12.90 respectively, as they are frequently used in her household of six.
