Sg Bakap polls: Pakatan takes early lead with postal votes

NIBONG TEBAL: Pakatan Harapan is leading the race in the Sungai Bakap by-election by seven postal votes.

PKR’s Sim Tze Tzin shared that Pakatan's Dr Joohari Ariffin obtained 63 votes while Perikatan Nasional’s Abidin Ismail obtained 56 votes.

There were 128 postal votes with five spoilt ones and four unreturned votes.

There are a total of 39,279 registered voters in Sungai Bakap, including 57 police personnel members.

Earlier nine polling stations with 65 voting streams were opened simultaneously at 8am on Saturday (July 6) and closed at 6pm.

Joohari and Abidin are involved in a straight fight in the by-election, which was called following the death of assemblyman Nor Zamri Latiff from PAS on May 24 due to stomach inflammation.
