Floods: All centres in Sabah closed as victims return home

KOTA KINABALU: All four flood relief centres have been closed as evacuated victims have gone home as of 5pm Wednesday (July 3), said the Sabah Civil Defence Department.

The shelters that first closed down at around 4pm were in Putatan, Tuaran, and Tamparuli, and the last was in Penampang.

Now, many flood victims have started cleaning their mud-filled homes, throwing away damaged furniture and appliances, and trying to salvage what they can following the June 30 flood.

Volunteers continue to render assistance in terms of delivery of food and water, among other things.
