Two killed after trailer overturns along Jalan Kimanis-Keningau in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Two men in a trailer carrying heavy machinery were killed when the vehicle swerved and overturned on the side of the road along Jalan Kimanis-Keningau on Monday (July 1).

No further information on the victims, who were extracted from the lorry and declared dead on site, were obtained as of press time, said a Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.

The department initially received a report at 5.11pm on the accident and a team from Kimanis fire station was sent to the location, assisted by the police and Health Ministry officers at the scene.

“The trailer swerved to the road side, and ended upside down in the bushes.

“The firemen extracted the two victims stuck in the vehicle using special tools, and they were pronounced dead before being handed over to the police for further action.

“The operation ended at 7.03pm,” the spokesman added.
