Paris Olympics: OCM unveils 'fiercer' design for Malaysian contingent

PETALING JAYA: More vibrant and fresh, a tiger stripe pattern has been chosen as the new design for the official uniform of the Malaysian contingent to the Paris Olympic Games.

Presenting a 'fierce' image on the latest design, Olympic Council Malaysia (OCM) president Tan Sr Norza Zakaria said the change was made following feedback on the design and motif of the national contingent's previous official clothing that was said to not stand out.

The new pattern chosen has a black background with yellow tiger stripes that are clearer and larger on the front and back of the jacket.

The design also highlighted the OCM logo with the Jalur Gemilang in the original color, compared to the gold logo in the previous pattern.

"OCM feels that this new pattern design symbolises the spirit of the tiger which has been the identity of the Malaysian contingent since it was first introduced at the Manila SEA Games in 2005," he said.

The selection of the pattern and color of the official clothing of the Olympic athletes previously caused dissatisfaction to the public.

The shirt was not seen to represent Malaysia's identity when compared to previous editions following the color of the Jalur Gemilang, which was seen to be somewhat subdued.
