Sg Bakap polls: Unity govt parties given specific areas to campaign, says Mat Sabu


NIBONG TEBAL: Component parties under the unity government have been given specific areas to campaign in for the Sungai Bakap by-election, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

"We are following instructions and campaigning in different locations. For Amanah, we are focused on the Sungai Duri area," said the Amanah president when met at a cooking programme to encourage healthy eating in Tasek Cempedak here on Wednesday (June 26).

The Agriculture and Food Security Minister was explaining why Amanah is only campaigning in a specific location and is not seen with other Pakatan Harapan parties.

He said Amanah would concentrate on Sungai Duri as it is a large area.

"We have been going house-to-house, holding talks and meeting the locals.

"What we hope is for a high number of voters to come out on polling day to cast their votes.

"Campaigning has progressed well so far and is running smoothly," he said.

Pakatan's candidate Dr Joohari Ariffin is in a straight fight with Perikatan Nasional's candidate Abidin Ismail for the Sungai Bakap state seat

The by-election is being held following the death of incumbent Nor Zamri Latiff on May 24.
