Perak cops investigating viral video of schoolgirl being slapped

IPOH: Police have launched an investigation into a video showing a schoolgirl being slapped by two others, which has since gone viral on social media.

The incident is believed to have occurred in a school toilet in Kerian.

In the one-minute, 21-second video, two girls are seen taking turns slapping the victim several times.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the incident occurred at about 10.30am on June 14.

He added that the 13-year-old victim was forced into the toilet by the two girls, both aged 15.

"The incident is believed to have stemmed from jealousy because the victim is said to be close to one of the alleged bullies' boyfriend, also 15, at the same school.

"A police report was lodged by the victim on Tuesday (June 25). The matter is classified under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt," he said.
