Man denies hurting girlfriend, sexually assaulting her daughter

MELAKA: A contractor pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate’s Court in Ayer Keroh here to causing grievous hurt to his girlfriend.

He also claimed trial for another charge of sexually assaulting the woman’s daughter.

Based on the charge sheet, See Yong Fei, 35, had allegedly caused severe injuries to the 38-year-old woman by repeatedly hitting and punching her face and limbs, as well as kicking her back, resulting in fractures to several parts of her body.

The offence was allegedly committed at a residential unit in Taman Desa Bertam, Melaka Tengah district, at about 11.28pm on May 7.

The charge was framed under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of seven years and a fine, upon conviction.

The accused, who is a father of five children, had allegedly hit the victim over a dispute over the purchase of vegetables.

The couple were living together in the same house.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Wardah Isshar prosecuted while See was represented by lawyer Kelvinder Singh Sidhu.

The victim’s legal team, comprising counsel Kent Tan Chow Teng, Cassian Anthony and Francis Augustine were also present during the proceeding.

Magistrate Khairunnisak Hassni granted bail of RM5,000 to the accused.

Meanwhile, See also claimed trial at a separate proceeding to a charge of sexually assaulting the 14-year-old daughter of his girlfriend.

The charge under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, was read before Sessions Court judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah.

If convicted, the accused could face a maximum jail term of up to 20 years and whipping.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Syazwanie Marizan prosecuted while the accused was represented by the same lawyer.

The court granted bail of RM10,000 and imposed an additional condition where the accused is required to report to the nearest police station once a month until the end of the proceedings.

Both the courts fixed July 31 as the next mention date.
