Zayn Rayyan’s murder: Grandparents to be released on police bail


PETALING JAYA: The grandparents of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin are set to be released on bail on Thursday (June 13).

Lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin, who is representing the grandparents, said the couple was detained to assist police investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

"I was informed that they will be brought to the Magistrate's Court today before their release, following their detention in Subang Bestari," he said when met with reporters at the court lobby here today.

Yesterday, the six-year-old boy’s grandparents were arrested at 2.30pm.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the arrest.

On Dec 5 last year, Zayn Rayyan was reported missing in Damansara Damai before his body was found near a stream about 200m from his home at Apartment Idaman.

A post-mortem revealed injuries to his neck and body, leading to the conclusion that he had been killed.

During the course of the investigation, police's forensic teams combed the location where the body was found as well as the surrounding areas in Damansara Damai.
