Mother of two fulfils childhood dream of being a cop

KUALA LUMPUR: Siti Fairuz Abdullah, 32, had always wanted to be a police officer when she was growing up.

However, Siti Fairuz, got married when she reached adulthood and gave birth to two children, now aged eight and nine.

"My father was a police officer, thus the interest started since I was young.

"I am grateful that my husband supported me when I joined the police force to ensure the safety and security of the country.

Siti Fairuz was also chosen as the best trainee sergeant among her batch of recruits, an honour she did not expect.

"Honestly, I didn't set any target when I joined basic police training but it is a wonderful surprise to be named the best overall trainee," she said after the graduation ceremony at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) here on Friday (June 7).

She also said she was sad to be away from her children for nine months to attend training.

"However, I am grateful that my sacrifice and the commitment I put into my training – were not in vain," she said.

Siti Fairuz was among 247 trainee sergeants who graduated basic police training, culminating in the graduation ceremony on Friday.
