Man hit by 4WD dies while trying to help crash victim

KOTA TINGGI: A Good Samaritan has died while trying to help the driver of a car which crashed near here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the 35-year-old man had stopped his vehicle by the roadside at KM18.8 on Jalan Sungai Rengit-Kota Tinggi and got out to help when he was hit by a four-wheel-drive vehicle at 7.20pm on Thursday (June 6).

Supt Hussin said the 4WD was driven by a 27-year-old man travelling with two co-workers.

"The victim died on the spot from his injuries,'' he said, adding the victim's body was sent to the Kota Tinggi Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Supt Hussin said the driver and two passengers in the 4WD were also injured and were sent to the same hospital.

"The driver of the crashed car suffered minor injuries and was treated at the KPJ Pasir Gudang Specialist Hospital,'' he said.

Supt Hussin said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
