PETALING JAYA: Companies in sectors eligible to take part in the Progressive Wage Policy (PWP) can register through a portal.
Currently, the implementation of the PWP pilot project is open to the construction, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, information and communication, and professional, scientific, and technical activities.
According to a statement by the Human Resources Ministry, businesses could start registering through the Progressive Wage Policy Portal at https://gajiprogresif.gov.my from Wednesday (May 15).
"Selected companies will receive incentives amounting to a maximum of RM200 per month for each employee in the entry level group, and a maximum of RM300 per month for each employee in the non-entry level group.
"Entry level employees are those serving in their first year at the company. Non-entry-level employees are those who have held a position in the company for more than a year.
"Incentive claims can be made by employers starting from June this year," it said.
Salary increases, said the ministry, must be in line with increases in skill levels and employee performance.
"Companies participating in the PWP need to provide documentation confirming that the employees have attended and completed skill enhancement courses and training for at least 21 hours (3 days)," said the ministry.
Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, who announced the policy in November, had said that a pilot project on the PWP would be carried out between June and August this year.
He also said some RM50mil had been set aside to carry out the pilot project, including paying incentives to companies that take part in the PWP.
The RM50mil allocation will involve 1,000 employers.
According to the ministry, the PWP is the government's commitment to reforming the labour market with the aim of increasing workers' income in line with productivity growth.
"The introduction of this new policy will complement existing wage initiatives, such as the Minimum Wage Order and the Productivity Linked-Wage System," it said.
