Five motorcycles seized, 50 summonses issued in Ampang traffic ops

KUALA LUMPUR: A traffic police operation here led to the seizure of five motorcycles and 50 summonses being issued.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the motorcycles were seized during the operation on Saturday (May 11) in Jalan Ampang and Tasek Permai.

They were impounded for various offences including illegal modifications or because the riders did not have a valid licence, he said in a statement on Sunday (May 12).

"The operation also saw 24 vehicles carrying a total of 28 people inspected and a total of 50 summonses issued for traffic infractions such as non-compliant number plates and illegal exhaust modifications, among others.

"Inspections were conducted at random with an emphasis on excessive modifications on certain vehicle parts, especially motorcycles, as well as riders who were likely to perform dangerous acts (on the road)," he said.
