THE National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN), under the Higher Education Ministry (MOHE), recently celebrated its customers at the Customer Appreciation Ceremony 2024 (Majlis Mesra Bersama Pelanggan 2024) ceremony, which was held at the Royale Chulan Hotel Kuala Lumpur on May 8.

The ceremony, which paid homage to PTPTN customers comprising ministries, government agencies, private agencies, Sahabat PTPTN, strategic partners and media officials, was organised to express gratitude and appreciation to all parties that have provided significant support and cooperation in enhancing PTPTN’s service delivery.

The ceremony was completed by PTPTN chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim. Also present were chief executive Ahmad Dasuki Abdul Majid, the management board, as well as the Higher Education Ministry and PTPTN’s top management.

In conjunction with the celebrations, PTPTN also received contributions for its myWaqafPTPTN product for higher education from organisations such as UOB Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Saturna Sdn Bhd, Uda Holdings Berhad, Principal Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd, Ninja Logistics Sdn Bhd and Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad.

These organisations have been among the earliest contributors since myWaqafPTPTN was launched on March 11.

myWaqafPTPTN is a higher education wakaf fund, as part of a collaboration between PTPTN and the Yayasan Waqaf Malaysia (YWM), to diversify PTPTN’s financing resources besides existing loans.

The product aims to assist students through higher education scholarships to reduce the burden of loan repayments.

“PTPTN calls for the support of all stakeholders, strategic partners and customers to encourage the practice of wakaf via myWaqafPTPTN,” says PTPTN chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim.

“Most interestingly, every contribution or donation to myWaqafPTPTN is eligible for a 10% tax deduction of the aggregate income, under Subsection 44 (11C) of the Income Tax Act 1967.”

Enhancing savings for higher education

Furthermore, during the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were also presented to 10 strategic partners who contributed to encouraging savings and loan repayments for 2023 and 2024.

Among them were the MOHE, Education Ministry (MOE), Health Ministry (MOH), Sabah and Sarawak State governments, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

As an agency that empowers the nation’s higher education agenda, PTPTN is always mindful and vigilant in channelling contributions to the less fortunate, through corporate social responsibility programmes for the welfare and well-being of local communities.

At the event, PTPTN presented donations amounting to RM5,000 in the form of Simpan SSPN Prime accounts to 10 special needs students, with five coming from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and five from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

UKM and USIM have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PTPTN, with these donations representing one form of strategic collaboration between the institutions, showcasing PTPTN’s commitment to the educational landscape in Malaysia.

PTPTN encourages all parties to explore various forms of integrated collaboration with the organisation by making Simpan SSPN the preferred choice for providing incentives and contributions to enhance the nation’s higher education.

This will also help increase the awareness of the savings culture for higher education purposes.

PTPTN is also proactive in organising various draw prize campaigns to further promote the culture of saving.

At the Customer Appreciation Ceremony 2024, PTPTN also celebrated the winners of the Cabutan WOW! Gong Xi Ang Pow series draw campaign.

This was the first series of the Cabutan WOW! Simpan SSPN 2024 campaign, which ran from Jan 1 to Feb 29.

It offered attractive cash prizes amounting to RM100,000.

“Through savings in the Simpan SSPN scheme, various benefits and privileges are provided to depositors,” adds Norliza.

“These include income tax exemption of up to RM8,000 per year, takaful protection for depositors, matching grants of up to RM10,000 for eligible families, competitive dividends, and government-guaranteed and shariah compliant savings.”

PTPTN remains committed to encouraging Malaysians to prioritise financial planning for the continuation of their children’s higher education.

The organisation aspires to transform the public mindset from relying solely on loans to cultivating savings habits, so children are not burdened with debt after completing their studies.

PTPTN customers can open accounts or make additional deposits online via the myPTPTN application for a quick, seamless and safe user experience.
